Ovindoli Ski Area
Altitude: 1,470m – 2,056m
The Ovindoli ski area, othewise known as Monte Magnola, has beginners and learners slopes both at the base and high on the mountain in the Amphitheatre Bowl. There are six runs designated as easy and varying between 350m and 1km in length. Ovindoli is home to Europe’s longest ‘magic carpet’ lift – perfect for beginners!
Several long red runs will get the heart pumping and the thighs burning. Intermediates can enjoy top-to-bottom skiing with the longest run offering about 700m of vertical drop over a distance of about 2.5 km.There are eight runs designated black, including the spectacular 4 km long Pistone/Fontefredda off the Monte Freddo lift. On the way down, the views to the valley floor and surrounding mountains are spectacular.
There’s a fantastic snowpark that lies in a sunny bowl at 1980m and offers 3 slopestyle runs, easy medium and hard and there are also nearly 30 different structures equipped with rails and boxes. A chill out zone with music is a great place to hang out in the sun.
As well as the Ovindoli ski area pass, there is a joint ski pass, called the Ski Pass dei Parchi that covers both the Ovindoli ski area and the Campo Felice ski area. Unfortunately, these two areas are not yet joined up but if you have your own transport then it’s quite easy to drive between the two base areas and it takes about 20 minutes.
Ovindoli town sits upon a hilltop with fantastic views in all directions and is very picturesque. It offers a good range of shops, bars and restaurants and there’s a ski shuttle bus that runs around the resort between the various accommodations and the lifts.
