The loaded prices of half term skiing holidays sold by tour operators and many ski resorts is a bone of contention and frustration with thousands of skiers and would be skiers. We can categorically say that this isn’t an issue in Abruzzo. Unless half term skiing week coincides with Carnival Week – and even then the effect is minimal – the UK February half term skiing week is just another week on the Abruzzo ski calendar.
Here is an an example of a 7 night holiday during half term skiing week, staying at the Hotel Il Lavatoio, Castel di Sangro, with airport transfers from Naples or Pescara:
7 nights, bed and buffet breakfast, sharing a twin/double room, with airport transfers: €350
7 nights dine-around package in Castel di Sangro €105
6 days ski pass Roccaraso €205
6 days skis, sticks and boots €60
Total = €720 / approx. £655 per person
One of the great things about booking your holiday in Abruzzo is that you will fly on routes that are generally not expensive in the winter. The nearest airport to Castel di Sangro and the Roccaraso ski area is Naples, which is generally pretty quiet in February.
So, allowing about £150 for a flight to Naples or Pescara from the UK, the total would be approximately £805 – that’s a lot lower than most holidays in the Alps!
The dine-around price above is for a three course meal of typical local cuisine and it includes mineral water and a glass of local wine.
Roccaraso is Italy’s fifth biggest ski resort and we think prices such as these are hard to beat.
